Marlena D. Edwards is committed to social and economic improvement for residents of Ward 4. Born and raised in the Shepard Park neighborhood, where she lives today, Marlena Edwards,' 40 years as a resident of Ward 4 have taught her the values of loyalty, community and family.

After achieving her B.S. in Mass Communication from Towson University, Edwards worked in the private sector, providing technical support to business and government; highlighted by her work on the Middle East Peace Talks. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Howard University.

Edwards has devoted over a decade of service to the residents of the District of Columbia; In her capacity as Field Case Specialist and Therapeutic Social Worker with the District of Columbia Department of Mental Health she has helped hundreds of families navigate the District's social service system. Through her work in Government Edwards has served on committees to promote coalition building for District agency professionals and has met regularly with members of the City Council on issues related to community health, social development, and administrative policy.
