Safety: Not only safety
from crime, but safety for families, children and individuals in their
homes. Everyday safety; safe crossings for pedestrians, cyclist and drivers.
Safety from environmental hazards, safety to imagine, and to live a good
life.
Health: We can and must create and sustain an environment with
good access to medical services for all. We must promote quality health
care, proper nutrition, and reliable health information, so that residents
can make healthy choices and - keep themselves healthy.
Achievement: Everyone has the temperament to achieve, whether it be
in academics, the arts, or in the professions.Whether we seek opportunities
for spiritual fulfillment or athletic competition, support for a diversity
of options is a sign of a vital community.
Responsibility: There is no greater duty than our responsibility
for ourselves and for one another. Nothing makes a community more attractive
than the feeling that neighbors are looking out for one another. Everyone
does better when a community shares this sense of responsibility. But
along with responsibility must come access to the tools to act to improve
conditions in the community. I promise to hear voices of the residents
of Ward 4 and to be their voice on the Council.
Enterprise: We must to expand opportunities that are sustainable and
which contribute to the long term development of Ward 4s neighborhoods
and residents. With energy and wisdom that Ive seen throughout the
Ward, I know we can expand opportunity and build a prosperous future.
While upholding our respect for culture, diversity, and history; we can
make Ward 4 a special place, a dynamic place, a star in the Washington
region.
These five principles which
guide my approach to issues spell out the acronym: S.H.A.R.E.
